The End of Two Eras

December marked not only The End of Touring for Nails as we know it – but also the end of my gallery. Yeah, its sad, after many awesome years 31Grand is closing. Unfortunately it’s a fate shared by many galleries these days thanks to this economy.

But it ain’t all bad. Since Heather, the co-owner was so awesome – she hooked me up with a show at another awesome gallery! In 2009, I will be showing with Jack The Pelican Gallery in Brooklyn. I’ll post more about that later. This post is about The Last Show at 31Grand – what you didn’t think we were really going to close with out a fucking party didja?

The show was called Death is Not The End. The piece I had in the show was titled “Nessun Dorma” about an undead band member…. That’s an old one I did back in Paris. But it’s kinda funny Heather went with that one. If one is familiar with recent band activity, given who the character is based on, it’s kind of fitting it be used now for an end show.

This is Jen standing next to the piece. Here Jen is expressing her distain for the subject of inspiration for the drawing. –She don’t like Alley.

The show was on December 20, which was also Florence’s last night in the US. That being the case – it was the last time we would all be together for a while, and the official end of the tour. Jonathan and Daylin were also super super kind enough to come to the show. I don’t have a pic of them – but it really meant a lot to me that everyone came.

Not only that – another fan - RobinTMP who is super awesome and renowned for her Craft and Baking skills, thought I might be a little Post Tour sad – and sent me the coolest shirt she’d made. And it was purple! See? Some Nails fans are really nice thoughtful people!

After the show we all went out for a bit – then walked to the subway to part ways. It was snowing.

Just as we were getting ready to say goodbye, we looked down at the ground to the only bare spot of sidewalk not covered in snow. Almost as if on cue -

An old add from the Street Team advertising The August 27th Izod show. You know – back in the summer when everything was simple and cool… and it wasn’t winter!

So of course we took pics and as usual, had a lot of laughs. We all said goodbye, but we weren’t super sad. April will be here VERY soon. Ready or not –2009 here we go!

I'll be posting stuff about the new show and of course the latest band things as well, very soon. Feel free to check back if ya want.
